Triumph Law attended and participated in the MADD National Candlelight Tribute events in 2021 and 2022. Robert Carichoff was invited to speak at the event, which was hosted by West Sac CHP and organized by Rhonda Campbell from MADD. During Crime Victims Rights week in April and also the week on Thanksgiving each year, MADD allows participants to light a candle online in honor of someone who was injured or killed by a drunk driver.
MADD Sacramento, or Mothers Against Drunk Driving, is a non-profit organization supporting drunk driving victims and raising awareness about the preventable crime. Founded in 1980 by Candy Lightner after an intoxicated driver killed her daughter, MADD Sacramento has grown into one of the largest victim services organizations in the United States.
The organization provides support groups, court accompaniment, and other resources for those affected by drunk driving. It also works to reduce the number of drunk driving injuries and fatalities through public campaigns, legislative action, and educational programs for teens and adults.
As a firm that frequently represents victims and families affected by drunk driving, the team at Triumph Law understands the importance of the non-profit’s work. That’s why we’re proud to say we’re an Official MADD Sacramento partner.
We actively sponsor MADD’s Sacramento California Law Enforcement Recognition Awards, which honors police officers who demonstrate a commitment to protecting their communities from intoxicated drivers. In fact, Robert Carichoff, our founding attorney, recently appeared at one of the awards ceremonies.
At the event, he presented awards to officers and made a speech about a time when he was invited to observe a DUI checkpoint. He spoke of his deep respect for the officers involved and expressed his support for Sacramento, an organization our firm plans to stand by until its motto, “No More Victims,” is achieved.
